Haack’s Trax – #001

It was fun spinning a few tracks last night. I will try to do that more often, possibly monthly or bi-weekly, but hard to say. I just don’t have the dedicated recreational time in my schedule right now. Here’s the link to last night’s stream:

Haack’s Trax #001

I was so busy this past 4 months that it impacted my listening habits. That is, I listened less and sporadically. Nevertheless, there were some gems I returned to, notably Queen’s The Game and Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy. Here’s my Listenbrainz cloud from last quarter:

I’m not entirely sure its logic works. I think my Gazebo phase was longer than a quarter ago, more like last Nov – Jan or so, but the phase did happen. It might have just extended into February enough to hit the charts – I can verify later. Also, the recent listens – such as those I just mentioned above – are omitted because there’s simply not enough listens quantitatively for them to assume a position. So, despite being something I’ve been binging lately, they just have not accumulated enough listens yet.

As for the Pet Shop Boys, two of those albums are wrong / false positives. I don’t know how it pulled Actually and Nightlife – I literally never listen to those. It completely omitted Disco 1, which has Paninaro (Italian Remix), perhaps it was misidentifying tracks from this album? Regardless, still fun to get the retrospective. Here’s Paninaro … a total jam:

After a little tinkering and restricting Listenbrainz to the past month only and reducing the contributions, I was able to get a more accurate snapshot of my listens for the last two weeks. Here’s what it looks like:

I love this tool because I entirely forgot about the Add N to (X) phase from about 3-4 weeks ago. When I emerged from my funk, I started listening to them. It was both because they populated to the top of my player/client, and also because when life is disjointed, I prefer disjointed music. I saw them and was like “actually, meh, that’s probably perfect” and then let them be background to and fro work for a week or so. Hilarious and fitting.

As for Guns & Roses, I am not a proper fan. My work colleague mentioned last Monday that Chinese Democracy, although only having Axl Rose and no other original members, was – in his opinion – a solid album. Somewhere along the line, I had bought it some 15 years ago, but never gave it a proper listen. I probably stumbled on it at BestBuy by accident. Regardless, I gave it a listen and it’s indeed fairly solid. If nothing else his singing is on point and in classic form, which – as a singer – is always nice to hear. Here’s a track I particularly enjoyed and that showcases his vocal depth:

Alright, until next time folks.
