Lux & Ivy’s Favorites

First of all, massive thanks to Kogar the Swinging Ape and his work on developing these compilations, authentically tying them to lore about Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, creating artwork, re-mastering them, making treasure hunts out of them (see Vol. 17), and just putting tireless work into music archival. Massive hat’s off and thank you. I strongly recommend that people subscribe to his RSS feed and/or bookmark his blog. Additionally, he has a profile at Mixcloud you should follow and interact with.

Although I appreciate his work, I must admit that it’s difficult to find all the links at once, they often lack artwork on the downloads, have wrong or missing ID3 tags and other issues. There’s also the issue that he remastered 1-3, 5-6, and 12-16, but not 4 or 7-11. On or around the same time he remastered those, he released Vol. 17 as a scavenger hunt out of frustration over the bootleggers. His original blog post for 1-11 is located here. There’s a Reddit Post that helps people locate his remasters and I’ve added this site here to help passerby. Since we are on the topic, you can find Kogar’s remasters here:

As for his last three additions, you can find those here:

Please note that this collection is so loved that people shamelessly pass these collections off as their own, develop their own blog posts about them, and in some cases their own artwork. These bootleggers not only disrespect Kogar, but they add their own ID3 tagging mistakes and just generally contribute to the milieu of misinformation and difficulties in obtaining the current masters and associated artwork. Please don’t stand for that if you find it and redirect people to his original posts and/or if you want to assist others in obtaining these compilations, provide appropriate attribution like I’ve done here. This post is designed to help enthusiasts of Kogar’s work with:

The album downloads above are on a Nextcloud instance and the listening links are from my Airsonic Advanced instance. Please note that all downloads from my site will contain my ID3 adjustments for which I used Picard, track name adjustments, and codec adjustments. The playlists above are in .m3u8 format and can be easily adapted for your directory tree and/or chosen platform. The artwork downloads are, for now, only for the best album cover for each collection; they don’t include all the other bundled artwork. For the Jewel Case sleeves and other bundled artwork, you will need to download the album files. I think the artwork for #11 is a rip-off from a French bootlegger, but I’m not sure. It lacks the “Stay Sick, Turn Blue” banner. If someone knows about this, please email me. Also, don’t hesitate to email me if you catch any other errors or insights, whether they be tagging or attribution mistakes, missing/extra artwork, improved masters, corrections, or what have you. Thanks and enjoy!
